Television has been around for so many years, and people have developed a relationship like no other with it. However, with the emergence of the social media, there has been a shift in broadcasting trends as the audiences are increasingly defining whatever they would like aired, and bad programs have no chance of survival on TV. Programmers have come closer to the viewers and every second they are on air. They are monitoring their social media pages for complains and compliments. All this is aimed at enhancing television viewership as there is high competition. Social media implications on our television viewership have greatly enhanced the quality of programming in our television channels today.
Social Networking Polls
In an effort to collect more information from the viewers, broadcasters have moved their attention to administering polls after the airing of their programs daily. These polls are posted on the social media profiles for comments on how the viewers like the program, and any other important factors that they think should be including in the future programs to make it better. Social media TV has enhanced the interactivity of television broadcasting as people can say what they think about the programs. The polls on the social media are saving media companies a lot of money as they serve the purpose of commercial surveys that usually cost a lot of money.
News Distribution
Most television channels air their news at the same time making it really competitive to attract an audience. Even though each channel tries to curve out a specific niche, the chances of getting the viewers are pegged on how well you market the news program on the social media. The changing broadcasting trends to carter for the technologically savvy and an increasingly social viewer ship has led the broadcasters to selling their shows online through the social media. News nowadays is three dimensional and does not have to come from one specific source. Anyone is literary a source to the media as news collection and dissemination are increasingly being initiated from the social networks.
Social Media Broadcasting
Sometimes we are so held up by one commitment or the other, and we miss our favorite programs, unless you have a decoder to record the program, or ask a friend to record for you, you definitely miss the program for good or pray for a replay. That is no more with social media broadcasting. Most programs that we watch on TV spread like a bush fire on the web through the social networks. If you miss the full program on TV, you can still catch up with the rest of the viewers from the social network profiles of the channel at a later time. These programs are streamed on YouTube making it easy to stay abreast of all the major broadcast activities of the TV channel.
The Future for Broadcast TV
I can say with confidence that there is no future for television broadcasting without social media. With the increasingly acceptable social media TV, we can only expect better broadcasting and the viewers having their say on programming. As a result, only quality programs will survive as the social media is already a chopping board for boring programming.
