What Is The Future Of Social TV

The future outlook of social tv

Social media has undoubtedly revolutionized all the major aspects of human lives, including how to watch television. The days when you would sit before a television set with the family during prime time in utter silence are long gone. Many people want to get involved and not only to be told, but to have a say at whatever is being said to you. Social TV now allows you to disagree with whatever some commentator, whom we used to hold in high esteem and agree with whatever half-truths they were saying. You can freely chip in after discussing with a few friends located in different places in the world watching the same program and give your side of the story with social television. In short, television has taken a newer and fresher approach to programming as the viewers and constantly getting involved in all aspects of programming.

The Revolution
We saw it coming; social television has been around in disguise for quite some time now, and at least officially from the time social media hit the World Wide Web. Any information that is broadcasted goes viral in a few seconds and in some cases, the television which is essentially supposed to keep the people posted on the latest news items, is today receiving news stories through the social media. Show me a TV program that doesn’t have a Facebook wall and a twitter account and I will take you back to the 19th century. Further to that, social trends have also picked momentum. It is barely a year after Apple unveiled the iPad and watching television today proves the point that indeed, technology is moving fast! I have not been in a broadcast studio in the recent past, but I actually don’t think the news anchors have any use of the TelePrompTer; all of them have iPads in hand, and it is not fashionable anymore; it is an essentiality.

What is the Future of Social TV?
It is no doubt that social networking has a brighter future. More and more people are getting connected and sharing their lives’ mysteries and sorrows through the social media every day. The social media enthusiasts will champion for the rapid development of social media. The social media start up space is set to get rising, and more money is bound to be spent on Social TV.  Media moguls will invest in social TV immensely in the near future as that is where the money in advertising revenue is seeking refuge for now.

Another inevitable social TV trends  is the intended full utilization of the television screens. Second television screen will soon be hitting your set as a way of ensuring total consolidation of advertising revenue. On the forefront for the second TV screen is twitter, which is virtually watching television with you. It currently commands a volume of conversations around television viewer ship and I don’t see this declining any time soon.

What of Facebook? This social-networking giant already commands a huge following on what people watch and is increasingly powering social TV recommendation. Social media will determine the success and failure or programs. Very soon, you may not have any use of your remote control. The future of social TV is bright and as long as social media advances, then we are set for bigger and better things on our televisions.
